During the past 5 weeks I gave created 2 tasks on my topic about healthy lifestyle.

First I researched using the net and found an article that provided background information to help my understanding of the issues related to my topic, which was about how to live healthily.

With this information I created a summary on the topic and posted this on my blog page. This helped my understanding and provided me with more information to move to the next stage on Blooms.

During the "Comprehension" stage I created my second task which was to do some investigation post photos/ create a survey/ embed a visual snapshot to show the audience my understanding of the topic. We were asked to record our summaries as a video and embed the file into our blog page to demonstrate our oral language skills and ability to master intonation and expression. I found this difficult to do at first but Bibil was able to assist us and I was pleased with the final product.

Now I am preparing for the next stage of Blooms "Application" and I am deciding how I will design my next task that could include: an interview, a simulation, a presentation using IT tools and illustration

It's time for me now to plan my next task so please check my blog on friday and post a comment

ASSESSMENT 1- INTRODUCTION TO QUESTION

Question: How does the media help teenagers choose a healthy lifestyle?
AOI: Human Ingenuity

These days, teenagers are starting to care about their weight. Some of them are choosing a healthy lifestyle as their weight loss program but some ends up becoming an anorexic. That is why I think this topic is important. However, I am going to talk about how and why teenagers are choosing the right way to lose weight.
Healthy lifestyle is when we as a teenager eat normally and healthily. What I mean by healthy is not just eat anything we want. It means that we have to foods that contain enough protein and vitamins. Such as, chicken, fish, vegetables and fruits. It is not good to eat snacks because they contain too much sugar. Exercises are also important for our health and of course teenagers that have a healthy lifestyle do lots of sport activities to stay strong. If we do a lot of exercises, it means we have to take enough rests everyday. Because muscles are formed while we are taking a rest, not while we are doing an exercise.
I found an article that supports my opinion. So, right now I am going to add some information about the protein our bodies need. Extra protein is very important to gain muscle especially if we are athletes. Eating enough calories is also very important for building muscle. We can’t build new muscles without calories. Commonly, people eat around 5 ounces of protein foods such as meat, fish, and chicken. Also 3-5 ounces of dairy protein such as milk yogurt and cheese.

The 9 questions:
1. Why is being healthy so important?
2. How long does it take to lose fat and gain muscle?
3. How many calories do we need to eat per day averagely?
4. How many times per week do we need to play do exercises?
5. What kind of food can’t we eat?
6. How many glasses of water do we need per day?
7. How many hours per day do we need to sleep? Why is it so important?
8. What kind of fat is good for us?
9. Why do sports so important for our lives?

As we commence this new Unit of Inquiry it is important that you have an understanding of Blooms Taxonomy. Simply put Blooms Taxonomy is a way for the sorting and grouping of different levels of learning. All learning starts at the lower levels of knowledge and understanding. We then progress to higher order thinking skills such as comparing and contrasting, making graphs etc to show how we can apply our understanding of new knowledge. To help with your understanding of Blooms I have created the activity below based on the book “The Outsiders”. Please complete this activity and post in your blog.

Activities using Blooms Taxonomy

1.
Knowledge- select one character from the novel “The Outsiders” who has the qualities of a heroine/hero. List the qualities and tell why you think they are heroic. I am choosing Johnny Cade because he has this natural heroic heart. First of all, he sacrifices his life for helping little kids that were stuck inside a burning abandoned church. Before it all happened, he killed Bob Sheldon just to save ponyboy's life.

2. Comprehension- CONSTRUCT a time line that. summarises what happens in the story “The Outsiders”. Ponyboy was the youngest in the gang. He was only a 14-year old teenager. He has 2 older brothers, the oldest one, Darry was the one who take care of the brothers after their parents died in a car accident. He never got home early, he always hung out with his Greasers friends especially Dally and Johhny. Until one night, after his fight with his brother he ran away and met the Socs in a park and bullied Johnny, saved his life by killing Bob Sheldon. They were so scared that the police will run after them, so they quickly ask for Dally's help and went to an abandoned church for about 3 days. But then, in the end of the story Johnny died after saving innocent children in a burning old church.

3. Application- THINK of a situation that occurred to a character in the story “The Outsiders” and write about how you would have handled the situation differently. If I were one of them, I would definitely handle the situation differently by not getting in trouble.

4. Analysis- IDENTIFY general characteristics (stated and/or implied) of one of the main characters and complete the table below.

Characters Name Ponyboy

Physical characteristics: Tall, has a greasy hair, skinny.

Personality:
Brave, honest, hates fight, he's personality is different than the others in a good way.

Major challenges/problems: The way they protect themselves caused them to get into trouble.

5. Synthesis- WRITE three new titles for the story that would give a good idea what it is about.
Teenagers Life
Gang of Boys
The Greasers

OR

CREATE an original character and tell how the character would fit in the story.

6. Evaluation- DECIDE which character in the selection you would most like to spend a day with and describe why.
Ponyboy, because he's the main character and he was the narrator of the story. So there are lots of information about himOR

JUDGE whether or not a character should have acted in a particular way and
why.
